History

Small hotels in big surroundings...

The idea of a hotel chain consisting of distinctive hotels in our area formed in the period 1999/2000.
After some planning and strategy work, the company Classic Norway AS was formally established in 2003.

Erik Berg - Eier og investor av Classic Norway

In the beginning, Classic Norway had only two hotels; Hustadvika Gjestegård and Bjorligard Hotel. As the idea of developing and establishing more hotels as a whole would represent the diversity of our exciting region, it became a natural development to buy, build and develop more hotels that fit into this concept.

In 2004, Håholmen Havstuer in Averøy municipality was purchased. This prestigious fishing village with history dating back to the 1700s has also been owned and run by the famous adventurer Ragnar Thorseth.
Ona Havstuer, Finnøy Havstuer and Molde Fjordstuer became members in 2006. In 2007, Angvik Gamle Handelssted was built and restored, and in May 2008 we bought the charming and venerable Hotel Utsikten in Geiranger which opened the doors for guests already in 1891.

In 2013, Classic Norway purchased itself into two of the properties that The Real Good Life (DVGL) had in Lofoten, Nyvågar Rorbuhotell and Henningsvær Bryggehotell. Both hotels are run by Classic Norway today.

In the summer of 2016, the newly built Valldal Fjordhotell opened.

Strand Hotel Fevik joined Classic Norway 01 March 2017.

Ramme Fjordhotell opens in spring 2019.

Classic Norway Hotels currently consists of 15 hotels and rorbuer resorts in Northwest Norway, Lofoten, Eastern Norway and Southern Norway.
