One of the world's most beautiful mountain hikes
Norway's most beautiful and most easily accessible hiking! The trip over Romsdalseggen you will find in the middle of Norway's most beautiful mountain world! Up on the edge you have orchestra space to look out over the Romsdalsfjellene, with Trollveggen, Romsdalshorn and Vengetindene as the most prominent. Along the edge you also look over to the King, Queen and Store Trolltind. You can look all the way to Molde town and the Norwegian Sea. Far down in Romsdalen, the Rauma river meanders through the valley, and we can catch a glimpse of the train on the Rauma line.
Transport from the hotel to the Vengedalen car park where the trip starts. Follow the signs to Romsdalseggen, past a cabin and up the hill along the river. Just over the forest border, the path goes smoothly into Hesteheian. Follow the path to the left upwards along a clear ridge between Blånebba and Aakesfjellet. Fantastic views up on the ridge. The path towards Åndalsnes turns into an egg towards Mjølvafjellet. A little steep down and over Halsaskaret before ascending to Mjølvafjellet. Here there is a short steep section that is secured with a chain. Furthermore, the terrain is a little flatter towards Aakesvarden, and from here there is a marked egg down towards Mjølvaskaret with an airy passage over to Høgnøsa. Continue down towards the stone hut at Nesaksla, and further along a clear and well-marked path from the top back to Åndalsnes. Some steep sections at the top that are secured with a chain.
Remember to close gates after you, and reminds of leashes on dogs.
