About Grand Hotel
Unique location in the best nature Norway has to offer
The hotel's unique location at the foot of Romsdalseggen and the majestic Romsdalstindene are some of the best Norway has to offer. The history of the hotel dates back to 1890. Since then, the hotel has been through both fire, rebuilding and scattered renovations. In 1890 the hotel had about the same location as today and Åndalsnes consisted mainly of the farms Aandal and Nes.
Veblungsnes, located on the other side of the Rauma river, was considered the "center" of the place. Tourism was already an important industry then, and the first tourist boat called at Åndalsnes in 1883.
The hotel burned down in 1940, but was later rebuilt. In 1996, the 4th and 5th floors were extended, and large parts of the building were renovated. In the year 2000, the other floors and rooms were also refurbished.
The Grand Hotel has been renovated in several stages in retrospect, all hotel rooms and conference rooms in 2012 and 2015 and is today a modern course and conference hotel where all 86 rooms maintain a good standard. In 2019, a new restaurant was built, Restaurant La Vue.
Although the hotel today appears in a new guise, it is still possible to relive history dating back to the 19th century. Our unique collection of images can be viewed on the walls on all floors, and testifies to times with both famous guests and high activity in the local community.
Next door to the hotel is Rauma Kulturhus
